Rives Heavyweight and Lightweight is mouldmade in Europe with 100% cotton. These papers like the BFK are designed to have a wide range of fine art printmaking techniques. It is internally sized and has minimal surface sizing. Rives is perfect for intaglio, engraving, litho, calligraphy, letterpress, etching, relief printing, silkscreen, pen and ink, and all block printing. It is a very versatile paper.

Rives comes with a unique trait for its edges. The 26" x 19" version has 2 natural deckled edges and one tear on the 19" side and one cut edge on the 26" side. the 26" x 40" is grain long with 2 natural deckles, but has 2 tear deckles along the short side (26").

Lenox 100 is 250 gsm and has a vellum surface and works great for silkscreening, litho, etching and embossing. Its medium textured surface makes it ideal for pencil, graphite, and charcoal drawing techniques. Lenox 100 is machine made with no deckled edges or watermark.

Yupo Watercolor paper is a synthetic paper that is machine-made in the USA with 100% polypropylene. Using this material for making the paper gives it a surface that repels water. Yupo is waterproof, stain resistant and durable. It has a bright white smooth finish that gives artists the flexibility to work with it in many different ways to give it a unique and creative result.

Yupo is very smooth and it gives it a unique feeling when you are to draw or paint on it than traditional watercolor paper. Another unique trait for this paper is the surface may be wiped clean to restore the original white of the sheet. This is a fantastic feature for beginner artists. Another unique trait is Yupo's ability for lifting. It offers an artist the opportunity to return to a painting by redoing areas over, even if it has been months as water activates the paint. You are able to build layers of paint like an oil painter does on canvas. You are also able to remove paint, revealing the white of the sheet. Once your art is fully complete, it can be sprayed with a matte-clear finishing spray to seal and protect it. Keep in mind to only do this after your work of art is finalized, as it is very difficult to make changes after it has been sealed.

You may use Yupo for Acrylic painting, alcohol inks, markers, oil pastels, pencil/graphite, silkscreen, watercolor and sumi-e ink.

Arches Cover Printmaking Paper 22" x 30" 250 gsm is mould-made from 100% cotton and has been around the art community for many years. This paper has two watermarks and two natural deckle edges.

It has internal sizing with minimal surface sizing. Due to this technique this paper does not need to be completely soaked overnight prior to printing. Instead you just need to dampen the paper. This does not mean you cannot soak the paper overnight it is merely up to the individual art professional.

You may use this paper for all printmaking techniques and it is rather versatile because it is possible to print this paper: wet, damp or dry with subtle texture.

This paper is primarily a printmaking paper, however, many artists throughout the art community have been using it for many other art techniques: pencil, pastel, charcoal and others.

Somerset Paper Somerset Printmaking Paper

Somerset printmaking paper is a very popular grade produced by the historic St. Cuthbert's Mill in the UK. This paper has been around since the early 1970's. Legion in the 90's worked with the mill based on the demands of the printmaking community to make the limited range of Somerset to become the most complete offering of mouldmade printmaking paper ever manufactured by one mill.

Somerset is great for drawing due to the soft handle and supple feel in all three surfaces it offers. It is also known in the stationery industry and working well with letterpress, engraving, thermography and embossing.

In the 90's when digital printing started to become popular Somerset was one of the first fine art paper to gain popularity in this new world. Due to this Somerset became available in more sizes and weights to meet the demand. This then led to the inkjet coated version, Somerset Enhanced Velvet, which is an important paper of fine art giclee printing.

Cosmos Blotting Designed for moisturizing printmaker paper before a printing or to remove excess moisture from a final printing. Cosmos Blotting - White 24 x 38, 360 gsm

Cosmos Blotting comes in 24" x 38" is totally unsized (meaning no internal or external sizing) with a heavy weight of 360 gsm. This paper is primarily used for dampening art paper in preparation for printing. You place two sheets of this paper in-between the printing paper you are wanting to print on. The Cosmos Blotting is damp/wet and you typically leave this laying overnight so the printing paper will take in enough moisture.

Cosmos Blotting can also be used to help remove dampening printmaking paper. If you print on a paper and it is still quite damp, you can place it between two sheets of Cosmos Blotting. This will pull the wetness from the print.

This paper is made in the USA from high alpha cellulose. It has a rough surface and very absorbent. This paper has also been used for other art projects such as, paper-casting or molding shapes and sculpture pieces.

Pescia 22" x 30" 300 gsm is made with 100% cotton from Italy. This paper is smooth with internal sizing but has very little surface sizing. This makes Pescia ideal for all printmaking processes. Japanese handmade Chiri Natural 23 x 37, 37 gsm is known as one of the most essential papers in the Japanese art paper world. It is known for its tonal quality and varied textured features. Fedrigoni Cocktail has been cut in half measuring 19" x 27", 290 gsm / 140 lbs is acid free produced with lignin free cellulose pulp from sustainable forest (FSC certified). This product is environmentally friendly hydro-power process. It is completely bio-degradable and recyclable. This line of paper is resilient heavyweight card stock paper. The coating with tiny mica particles gives the appealing pearlescent sheen to the paper while increasing its lightfastness (Cuba Libre and Purple Rain semi-lightfast).

This paper is ideal for card making, craft, markers, felt pens, soft oil pastels, sketching, charcoal, fountain pens, offset printing, hot foil stamping and embossing.

Domestic Etching has a blend of sulphite and cotton which gives it great internal strength to withstand plate work from a handpress. One side of the paper is smooth and the other has a slight vellum finish which is perfect for many drawing techniques from graphite, pencils, charcoal to pastels.

With this paper being internally and externally sized it is great for some offset printing and silkscreening. Domestic Etching is made in the USA with 50% cotton and 50% sulphite. It can be used for hand lithography, intaglio, letterpress, offset, pastel and charcoal, silkscreen and thermography.

Rising Drawing Bristol 22" x 30" is rated by the number of plies it contains (we currently carry the 2ply). Drawing Bristol is an uncoated, machine-finished paperboard with 100% sulphite. It has two finishes; plate is as smooth as glass and is very good for pen and ink, vellum finish is a lightly textured surface with a little friction based and great for crayon, chalk or charcoal.

Rising Drawing Bristol is typically used for drawing, illustration, pastel, charcoal, silkscreen, calligraphy, offset, watercolor.

Rives de Lin Rives de Lin

Rives de Lin (Rives of Flax) is mould made, acid free and buffered containing 85% cotton and 15% linen. Rives de Lin has long fluffy deckled edges giving it the appearance of a handmade paper. It has two natural deckles and two simulated meaning it was torn at the finishing stage.

Rives de Lin is lightly sized and is praised for his resilience and elasticity. The linen gives it the tensile strength that makes it superb for embossing. Rives de Lin watermark includes the words, Moulin du Gue, the mill at the shallow part of the river. You can use this paper for hand lithography, intaglio, letterpress, offset, pastel & charcoal, silkscreen, stationery and watercolor.

Arches Text Wove 26" x 40" is 120 gsm is mould-made in France with 100% cotton and 4 deckles. Arches Text Wove has a soft textured, lightweight creamy white sheet and is great for all around multi use paper.

Arches Text Wove can be used for book binding, calligraphy, laser, letterpress, offset, pen & ink, pastel & charcoal, relief printing, silkscreen and stationery.

Legion Art Coated Cover (New, Improved version now available) comes white with the dimensions of 19 7/8" x 26" weighing 270gsm. This product is made from 100% high alpha cellulose, made in the USA and is acid free. It has a clay coated finish, on both sides, which provides an incredibly smooth surface for Silverpoint drawing.

Legion Art Coated was introduced in the 70's for offset printing. Throughout the years it is one of the favorites for offset printing and also has found a niche in the Silverpoint drawing art technique. This paper is heavyweight quality with sized smooth surface that allows the printer to lay down multiple colors without the color lifting or linting onto the offset blanket.
